According to research undertaken by recruitment firm Robert Half, three quarters of Australian CFOs think employee stress levels will rise over the next three years.
The study names the top three causes of rising stress levels as: growing workloads (61 per cent), increased business expectations (52 per cent) and short deadlines (37 per cent).
Absenteeism costs Australia around 92 million working days each year, with the average daily cost rising from $308 in 2013 to $340 in 2014.
The direct cost to employers was found to be around $10.11 billion per year. And this figure is likely to be conservative, given that it doesn’t include the indirect costs of re-staffing and re-training due to high turnover of staff.

- 36% said they juggled too many things
In 2015, former chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Professor Alan Fels, said “poor resilience is more significant for our economy than tax and micro-economic reforms.”

The 2 & 20 Principle, is a simple system that helps the brain create new habits easily. Each strategy is based on time - with each habit based on increments of 20 seconds, 20 minutes, 2 times, 2 hours, twice week, and evidence. Most of the strategies are backed up with sound research, many based on time honoured principles.
1. Health habit Incorporate Intermittent fasting twice a week, to reduce inflammation, lose weight and improve focus.
2. Energy habit Implement a 20 minute exercise routine each day including 2 x 20sec HIIT burst of energy, to increase energy and reduce the risk of injury.
3. Inner Peace Habit Learn how to implement two evidence based stress reduction techniques including EFT (Tapping) or meditation.
4. Productivity Habit Schedule 2 hours of 'focus, uninterrupted work' twice a week to complete large projects requiring deep thought.
Each wellness pillar contains six or seven strategies that the participants choose from, to tailor make their own program that fits into their lifestyle.
